My intentions about writing online

Before going on a psychedelic journey, people with clear intentions tend to have more meaningful experiences.

People who set an intention for spiritual connection, nature connection, or personal growth were more likely to have increased well-being after the psychedelic trip.

I think this kinda applies to other things in life too. Having clarity on what we actually want and why we want it, helps us make better informed decisions along the way. It can also shape the experience positively.

So I believe writing down my intentions about writing online will guide me towards a meaningful path.

So many amazing people recommend writing.

Paul Graham once said “Writing doesn’t just communicate ideas; it generates them”.

Alexey Guzey wrote about how writing “makes you think of new ideas and come up with solutions to your problems”. Visakan Veerasamy also talks a similar thing, he wrote “few minutes of thinking through a problem on paper was more effective than vaguely ruminating about it in my mind for weeks”.

Henrik Karlsson says “A blog post is a very long and complex search query to find fascinating people and make them route interesting stuff to your inbox”.

Eugen Yan in his FAQ about his writing process says he writes to learn. He also wrote “all my writing (and social media) serves as my bat signal. It’s my way of saying, “Here’s what I’m thinking a lot about and working on! If you’re exploring similar ideas or have similar challenges, please reach out!””

There seems to be only upsides to writing and publishing online. And it doesn’t cost much to write, you only need to sit down & think for a while.

So coming back to my intentions:

• I want to write because it allows me think
• Writing helps me understand:
  • myself better
  • things better
• What I write might help someone with similar set of problems
• Writing online makes it easy for people to see inside my head. People trust what they understand.
• Writing might help me make friends and be a part of a community
• I want to achieve greatness. Many great people write, so I believe there’s a correlation.
